Ahoi, Summit Hamburg! Let’s get the party started!

On June 4th and 5th, 2025, superluminar had the pleasure of being part of an exciting double feature: we hosted our very own housewarming party and participated in the AWS Summit Hamburg. Right in our hometown! The AWS Summit has long been a flagship event for cloud enthusiasts across the DACH and EMEA regions. After several years in Berlin, this year marked a new chapter with the Summit taking place for the first time at the spacious Messe Hamburg. As a Hamburg-based company, we were especially excited to welcome the cloud community to our city and contribute to such a vibrant and inspiring gathering.

Let’s warm up with a housewarming party!

Kicking-off the Summit on June 4th with our housewarming party, we welcomed over 100 guests in the evening to the Grüner Jäger Hamburg with delicious food, drinks and interesting discussions. The Grüner Jäger is a beautiful location in the heart of Hamburg, where we celebrated together with customers, colleagues and friends. The evening was filled with great conversations, delicious food, and a lot of laughter. Thanks to our colleague Vanessa we had a fantastically organized event. But the day was not only about the party, we hosted two workshop sessions in cooperation with AWS before the party on the same day focussing on serverless application development and the latest advancements in this field at AWS.

At the early evening, we started our housewarming party, hosting two discussion rounds about Tech Talent Recruiting and Diversity in Tech, featuring our colleagues Anne and Nora, as well as some of our partners and friends, like Alicia Prahm, Christoph Hassler, Marlon Zschiesche and Benedikt Stemmildt. The sessions were moderated by our beloved friend Sandra Schwedler who is not only a great moderator and coach but is the vice chairman of the supervisory board of St. Pauli soccer club. We’re proud to offer a platform for meaningful dialogue and to connect people around these important topics.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our housewarming party! We had a fantastic time connecting with all of you and sharing our passion for cloud technology. Your presence made the evening truly special!

June 5: It’s AWS Summit time!

The next day, it was all about the AWS Summit Hamburg at Messe Hamburg. This year marked a major step up in scale and energy with thousands of attendees,as we know it from the AWS Summit: a packed and insightful agenda. A standout topic was the announcement with further details of the AWS European Sovereign Cloud. AWS outlined the first glimpse of how they will build this independent infrastructure to meet the EU’s strict data sovereignty and compliance needs. Key features include:

• Fully operated within the EU by EU-resident personnel
• Isolation from the global AWS infrastructure, ensuring compliance with regional laws
• Enhanced data control, including customer-managed encryption keys and strict access boundaries

This announcement sparked engaging conversations around the future of cloud sovereignty and how organizations can embrace innovation while meeting regulatory demands. Another highlight: most sessions were held as silent talks, where attendees used headphones to tune into the speakers. This format provided a more focused and convenient experience, especially in the busy and open event environment. Beyond the keynotes and sessions, what truly stood out was the vibrant and welcoming community. We had the pleasure of reconnecting with long-time clients, meeting new faces, and sharing ideas with fellow cloud builders and innovators. And compared to previous editions in Berlin, the Hamburg venue had some real advantages: more space, a cooler atmosphere, and less background noise—making for a noticeably more relaxed and enjoyable experience. Whether during breakout sessions or spontaneous hallway conversations, one thing was clear: events like these are invaluable for deepening relationships with our customers and exploring new opportunities together.

Final Thoughts

Two days, countless conversations, and one clear takeaway: building trust in Europe matters. From our own housewarming party with our engaging panels, great food, and inspiring discussions, to the buzzing halls of the AWS Summit Hamburg, we were reminded why we love what we do. Being surrounded by cloud enthusiasts, clients, partners, and friends in our hometown made this experience extra special.

The AWS Summit brought exciting developments like the European Sovereign Cloud into the spotlight, and offered a glimpse into the future of cloud in Europe. Combined with the energy of the Hamburg venue and the fresh silent session format, it felt like a true evolution of the event. A huge thank-you to everyone who joined us, shared ideas, and made these days so memorable. We’re already looking forward to what’s next—and we can’t wait to keep building, learning, and celebrating with this incredible community.
