FemTech

It’s time to ditch your servers!

On the 24th of April, Nora and Rebecca presented a talk covering the what, why and how of serverless development at FemTechConf2023. This was a great opportunity to share our experiences with the tech community and encourage fellow developers to give serverless a shot. The virtual event hosted by FemTech was viewed by more than 11,000 attendees from around the world! We were very happy to be a part of it and got some great feedback for our session. You can check out the recording of our talk here

Behind the scenes

Recording our talk prompted some changes in our office. We are now the proud owner of a greenscreen and microphone setup! We are still working on perfecting the sound quality in recordings but are hoping to improve that in the upcoming weeks. Since we have the equipment, we are looking forward to recording more content in the future and sharing it with you! Stay tuned 😄

FemTechConf 2023

So what exactly is FemTechConf and why did we participate? FemTechConf is a women founded Tech conference with the aim to unite women* and allies in tech. The conference attracts speakers from across the Tech industry and covers a wide range of topics.

At superluminar we have been working on diversifying our teams for a while now (see blog post) and still have work to do, but are happy to have increased our percentage of women working as consultants from 0% in early 2020 to 35% in 2023. Meanwhile, Senior Consultant Nora has been leading the way speaking at a multitude of Tech events in the past and with her venture ‘She ‘n IT Nürnberg’.

Events like FemTech give us a chance to encourage and support women in IT and gain insights and new perspectives from other professionals in the industry. And maybe we can even learn a thing or two about how to make our own events and workplace more inclusive.

This year’s spring event was held virtually and featured recordings of speakers with live Q&A sessions to follow but there’s a live event coming up in Hamburg in Autumn that we are very excited about (more on this at a later date).
